Not Plastic

Further reducing our plastic ingestion, I created straw cups that will work for drinking smoothies. I ordered PLA corn plastic straws from Eco Products and will use them with our Ball mason jars. I drilled holes in the plastic Ball lids that perfectly fit the straws to minimize spilling by the kids. Now they can also store a cup of leftover milk in the fridge without me worrying about the plastic leaching.

I found Ball jars at our local Ace hardware store. They have been helpful in the past to order a box of jars for me.

You can also get the Ball plastic lids from Hoegger Goat Supply anytime, and Walmart during canning season.

Update, in May 2009 Meijer had a good supply of the Ball products including the lids.
