Milk and eggs

in re: Cow's milk. I look at it like this. Human milk is perfect for babies. When it comes to food, humans are able to exist or subsist on a wide variety of foods. Some thrive very well on only yak meat/fat. They thrive while our society is getting to the point of total disease. But, we can be very versatile in choosing whole foods. Insects provide the highest percentage of protein and also contain Vit B12. Cows were bred because they provided a convenient and fairly renewable source of food for human adults, who require different amounts of nutrients from developing babies. The most revered cow's milk comes from high butterfat producing cows (think Sweden where they celebrate the butterfat during the fast-growing grass season in Spring). Humanity has outgrown the cradle of Eden where tropical peoples ate high amounts of foods harvested from pristine oceans--all very high in minerals and vits A&D from animal sources (think fish liver oils). We must find other sources of high nutrient density. We continue in the state of constant and ever-quickening change, and must adapt. We must feed our children the most nutrient dense sources of food available to us right now, particularly in minerals and fat soluble vitamins. When breastmilk is no longer an option for our children, we must find other foods to meet the needs of the body to build strong bones (why does everyone have osteoporosis now?) and healthy brains (it's made of mostly saturated fat). Cow's milk, sheep's milk, goat's milk, all great options. Goat's is the best for humans, in terms of convenience also. But, cow's milk is more widely accepted. We can choose. We can't eat grass like cow's do (the pastured ones). We just have to try to choose the best combination of foods to provide the nutrients we need. I don't live on cow's milk, but it's a component of my total diet, though there are stories of folks cured by cow's milk, and folks thriving on a diet high in cow's milk products. As a mother, raw cow's milk is a staple. I never have to prepare it, it's always available and quick, it satisfies the stomach and taste buds, and provides a high amount of nutrients including K2, A and D, and minerals.

Our teeth are those of omnivores as opposed to carnivore or herbivore. We are designed to eat both meat and plants. We cannot can get enough nutrients out of just plants (Vit B12 deficiency, for starters). Dairy and eggs are great sources of nutrients which are gentle and sustainable, when the animals are tended the right way, and the end products treated with care. They are cheaper to produce and consume than meat. I still eat meat. I just eat far less of it because of dairy and eggs.
